We Didn't Start the Fyre -- But We'll Certainly Carry The Torch!

The Ten Oaks Project is very excited as we look towards bringing a leadership camp to Ottawa for youth from LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit, queer) communities.  But we need your help!

We're looking for eight (8) awesome, thoughtful, committed and connected youth to get this project off the ground. Wanna help?

The Ottawa Citizen ran an article last week profiling several children and adult children of LGBT parents who are involved with the Ten Oaks Project.

The article was initially scheduled to appear on May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia.

Thanks to our campers, staff and families who shared their stories.

Supporters

A big thank you to Chris Cowperthwaite for coordinating a hugely successful third party fundraiser in Toronto, Cocktails for Camp, to support our summer camp program.  A long-time camp staff member (he's been with Camp Ten Oaks since the beginning), Chris is one of the incredible volunteers who lends his support to helping us raise funds.

We're pleased to share with you that the Community Foundation of Ottawa (Ottawa) has announced they'll be supporting us again in 2008 through their granting program.

We're also sending a big thank you to all of our volunteers and supporters who lent a hand on camp clean up day.  We appreciate your time in helping prepare our site for our upcoming camp season.

Kids of Trans Resource Guide
COLAGE has published a first-of-its-kind Kids of Trans Resource Guide (PDF), written by and for kids of trans parents.  The Kids of Trans Resource Guide offers a range of perspectives with valuable quotes from the experts themselves - people of all ages with transgender parents. This invaluable guide seeks to provide an understanding of transgender issues specifically for the children of transgender people with basic vocabulary and concepts, frequently asked questions, and what to expect during a parent's gender transition.

The Ten Oaks Project is a not-for-profit, charitable organization. Our mission is to engage and connect children and youth from LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit, queer) communities through programs and activities rooted in play.
