Campsite
Camp Ten Oaks is located approximately 45 minutes from Ottawa along Lac Notre Dame in the Gatineau Hills.
Camp is situated on a 108-acre rustic property surrounded by forest and lake. The campsite spans three main levels: Cabin Row, Center Camp and Waterfront.
Cabin Row
Our cabins are located on top of a hill that overlooks Lac Notre Dame. At 42 metres above the lake, Cabin Row is the highest point at camp! It is also one of the most important places we can tell you about. Why, you may ask?
Cabin Row is where campers rest and recharge at night for the adventures and action that will be waiting for them every morning. Campers sleep in one of five cabin circles for each of our different age groups: JACs (8-9), MACs (10-11), IACs (12-13), SACs (14-15), and, LACs (16-17). Depending on the cabin circle, our wooden cabins sleep 8 or 12 campers each. Up to 62 campers can fit at Camp Ten Oaks.
Besides a place to sleep, Cabin Row also features the Director's Chalet, a central washhouse and outhouses. This is also where campers who want to get their arts fix will find the Craft Shack.
Centre Camp
At Centre Camp, everyone gathers during round-up on the large deck outside our Dining Hall. Besides coming to the Dining Hall three times per day for meals and snack time in the afternoon, campers can also use the lodge for activities if there happens to be a rainy day.
Our daily menus are put together to meet the dietary needs and choices of all our campers and staff. Meals at the lodge are camper-friendly, designed by our kitchen staff to make sure there's something nutritious, scrumptious and just plain tasty for everyone.
The Health Hut is also located at Centre Camp. This is where campers who are ill or have minor injuries receive treatment, and also where any prescription medications campers bring with them to Camp Ten Oaks are stored and made available as instructed by their health care providers or pharmacists. Camp Ten Oaks is just 20 minutes away from the nearest hospital in Wakefield should campers require a referral or escort for further medical attention.
Centre Camp houses a central shower facility equipped with individual stalls and outhouses.
Lastly, because it is in the middle of everything, Centre Camp will help you get to anywhere you need to go. Here you'll find trails leading to the Waterfront or Cabin Row, a lookout point, several kilometers of hiking paths, campout spots and our sports field, Poplar Grove.
Waterfront
Down by the waterfront on Lac Notre Dame, which is also known as Long Lake, campers can enjoy our swimming area and its distinctive T-shaped dock. Paddling a little further down the lake by canoe or kayak, campers will arrive at Spider Island.
There are also several campfire pits by the water. Camp-i-theatre, the most important fire area at camp, features ampitheatre-like seating and a great view of the lake.
