Staff Roles

The Youth Advisory Committee

Project Acorn is a program of the Ten Oaks Project. It was put together by the program’s first ever Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) in 2008, and continues to be led by a YAC who work relentlessly during the year to put together a program for youth that actually reflects what we want.  The YAC works from an anti-oppressive and sex-positive framework, believing that the space we create should be equally freeing for everyone in our communities.

Roots of Our Community

ROCs (Roots of Our Community) serve a special role at Project Acorn.  ROCs help to build community at Project Acorn and they create spaces for information exchange, discussion and support.

To participate in Project Acorn as a ROC, you must be at least 25 years of age. It is also preferred that you have previously been involved with youth programs in some capacity.  All volunteer staff are selected, trained, and supported by the Project Acorn Leadership Team according to the needs of the program and in the best interests of our participants.

We are accepting applications for ROCs until 5:00 PM EST on May 27, 2012.
